SATSCAPE This program predicts where satellites are in real time and when they are due to pass over your part of the world. It has high graphics, and the add on speech program will announce satellites as they come into range. Keplerian elements couldn't be easier, just click on menu, and SATSCAPE will connect via your internet connection and update them. Even more good news, it's FREEWARE! |

This site is for people who are interested in using amateur radio to communicate through satellites. I feel the most cost-effective way to acheive this goal is to follow the links and the information contained within this page. You could use a search engine, however the information contained on this web page is the result of 10 + search engines. With over 70 hits on each search, this could total over 750 sites times the number of inquires could factor out to over 7000. This web page will save you the time of checking each page.
Satellite voice communcation is not difficult. Actually it is very simple. The hard part is finding someone to show you how to get started. I use a homemade dual band hand held yagi antenna and an Icom IC-W32A dual band transmitter / receiver. For satellite receiveing I prefer to use an AOR 8000 for the downlink only because I feel it's more sensitive. From the receiver, I run a splitter; one end goes to the headphones the other to a micro recorder. Then I review the tape so I can document my contacts and QSL.
